  • I spent $300 on 2 new tires.
  • I had so much to do today at work, but, got nothing done.
  • I have to put my time in for almost the entire month.
  • Dinner tonight for date night was expensive, but, terrible. I wanted to physically harm the waiter.
  • I think my automatic wine opener is on the fritz.
Thank goodness for a glass of Prosecco, or, a bottle :)

Easter 2011.

As I mentioned in my last post, I did some Easter crafting and decorating on Sunday. Here's the low down:

I made the coffee wreath filter around Christmas, but, I plan on using it year round.  I love the frame idea, so far I've made frames for Valentines Day and St. Patrick's Day.  I got the frame at DT and I had the Easter egg stickers.

That's my apothecary vase that I bought at Home Goods recently.  I filled it with multi-color grass from DT.  I got the Spring sprig from Pier 1 ($4.99) and I love it! The tree was from DT, as well as the butterflies.  I had the flowers and the stones on hand.  And, of course, my adorable rabbit platter from Home Goods :)

The tray, plant, and birds are year round decorations, I just added eggs and grass from the DT.

I had the top wreath already, but thought it was too small for my door - so, I added the other wreath (DT) and the easter eggs (DT) and ribbon (Michael's).  I got the adorable bird wreath hanger from Pier 1 for $2.00.

I added some DT flowers to my vase of corks and some multi-colored Easter grass to my bird bottle.  I finished it off with the rabbit that I bought from Pier 1 with my 20% off coupon and a kissing ball that I made and put it on top of a candlestick that I bought at DT awhile ago.

Weekend Wrap-up.

So, this was another action packed weekend in B-town.  Friday was the BIG 5K and boy was I nervous! I left work early and headed straight to the race site to pick up our race packets.  As I was driving down the road and I started seeing the cop cars, all the people, and all of the tents, and I started getting very nervous! In fact, I wanted to back out because I was so intimidated!! But, I didn't.  JWP and I got to the race site and got  ourselves situated.  I saw my 6th grade home room teacher at the race and she told me that her and her friends walked the race every year, so, and that they had gone to happy hour prior to getting to the race, so, I started feeling better that I wouldn't be the last person crossing the finishing line :) It seemed like an eternity before the race started, and I  even managed to lose and then find my ipod..but, finally we were off! I ran the first 1.5 miles and then ran/walk the last 1.5 miles.  I ran more than I walked, which was my goal, so I was proud of myself when I finished the race.  It took me 40mins and 8secs to finish the race - not the best time, but, a starting point.  I had such a great sense of accomplishment once I was done and I am already looking for my next 5K.

On Saturday we went to the Ponies for Pups event to benefit the Honor Animal Rescue. It was a polo match and a catered lunch event. I have always wanted to go to a polo match, so, this was the perfect excuse to get outside and watch some polo.  It was a beautiful day and we had fun.  Saturday night we went grocery shopping....don't be jealous of my exciting life! :)

Sunday was full of cleaning, crafting, Easter decorating (I will upload some pictures), and exercising.  I got A TON of stuff done today and I am ready for the week.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

P.S. I finished the necklace and some coffee koozies - so look for some giveaways soon!

xoxo,

The truth hurts.

A couple of weeks ago, I got this wild idea to sign up for a 5K. I am not a runner and have never been able to no matter how many times I've tried. So, I really don't know what I was thinking.  But, I thought I could start training and work my way up to running 3 miles.  The race is Friday and I can barely run a mile.  The truth hurts.

Two weeks ago I was able to run 2 miles, but, then I stopped training and got lazy and now there is no way in hell I will be able to run the 3 miles.  The truth hurts.

Last June I weighed 110 pounds.  I worked my butt off (literally) to drop the weight and walked 3 miles 5 days a week.  I loved my body and felt so happy that my hard work and motivation had paid off.  I got back in to size 2 clothing.  I've gained 25 pounds since last June.  The truth hurts.

As far as work clothes go: I am down to 3 pairs of pants, 1 skirt, and 4 dresses that fit me because of my weight gain.  The truth hurts.

All of my jeans are too tight and I'm down to 1 pair of shorts that fit.  The truth hurts.

I am loathing summer because I don't want to get into a swimsuit, nor, do I think that any of my swimsuits from last summer will fit. The truth hurts.

I feel so disgusting.  The truth hurts.

I just can't seem to get my motivation back.  The truth hurts.

Prayers for Patrick.

So, there's a little guy up in New Jersey who needs our prayers. His name is Patrick and he was not treated so nicely by his owner....if you want to read his story (it will disgust you and make you question humanity) and/or see pictures of poor Patrick (the pictures will hurt your heart), please visit here to view the facebook page that has been set up to tell his story, or you can visit here to view the vets office that is currently helping Patrick have his second chance....and, finally, you can visit here to make a donation to Patrick (anything helps, I gave $20).  Peace and Love, Peeps!

Finally made one...

I have been wanting to make one of these necklaces for awhile now and I finally sat down and made one at the slumber party.  I followed this tutorial given by Little Miss Momma.  I didn't have any fabric, so, I used felt for the entire necklace and I think it came out pretty darn cute...what do you think?

FYI: I am making one of these necklaces to give to one of my readers in my very first give-a-way! Remember, you have to become a follower in order to be eligible to win.  Give-a-way coming soon.

Weekend Wrap-up.

Ok, so my weekend involved this:

 a little of this:

and, a whole lot of this:

 oh, and this:

I volunteered to score the local high school mock trial competition on Saturday morning.  It was awesome! I was so impressed with the level of skill and dedication that these high schoolers had - I do not think I could have competed on a mock trial team when I was in high school.

After I was done "judging" (ha ha), I went to the Pirates v. Red Sox game with mom and JWP.  The firm has "box" tickets right behind home base. Normally when you think of "box seats," you think of shaded private rooms with food and drink, but, this was not the case.  Instead the "box seats" were second row, right behind home base.  Now, I'm not complaining, because the seats were amazing...it's just that it was a tad warm outside and so, we only lasted about an hour and a half :)

Saturday night I had a girls slumber party complete with chinese food and LOTS of crafting...I mean, check out that crafting table!!! I made a rosette necklace (will show off in a later post), made a rhinestone dove, and made a ton of little rosettes for a later project.  I had so much fun with H and KJ, and Lane (he was the only boy allowed at the girls slumber party)...well, except for JWP.

Sunday day we had brunch with JWP's family and then hung out with the Edwards clan and sipped on some champagne.

All in all, it was a fabulous weekend! Busy, but fabulous.....on the agenda this weekend is a 5K run on Friday and a charity event for the Honor Animal Rescue (Ponies for Pups)....then, I think the calendar is clear for a couple of weeks :)

Just in case you have not heard of GroopDealz.com and/or visited the website (and apparently are living under a rock....joking, I kid, I kid), please stop what you are doing and head on over there.  This is a very cool site which features some very unique items at a super reduced cost.  I've already made 3 purchases since joining.  In fact, I purchased today's deal - the "Spring" vinyl decal.  Enjoy!

Well, egg on my face....

or however that saying goes.  I woke up early this morning in order to go to Publix on my way to work.  I knew that this whole "olive oil for $5.99 thing" would bother me all day if I didn't take care of it this morning.  I walked up to the counter and explained to the girl at customer service that I purchased 2 bottles of EVO (channeling Rachel Ray) and that I thought they were B1G1, but I had been charged for 2.  The girl asked the manager whether the ones I purchased were the ones that were B1G1 and the manager stated that she did not know.  Another girl that was standing by said she thought the B1G1's were the extra virgin olive oil, and not the extra virgin olive oil light - which is what I had unknowingly purchased.  She went to the EVO aisle and came back and said all of the B1G1 EVOs were sold out.  I was about to tell the girl that I would like to return one of the bottles when the lovely manager said to her- "oh, just give her the ones she purchased as B1G1" and she credited my bank account the $5.99.  So, with that, I am back to LOVIN' Publix with my whole heart and I am one happy girl :) Happy Thursday! I even stopped at SB this morning to celebrate this great day and I may have tried one of the rocky road cake pops for breakfast (whoops) and it may have been delicious!

P.S. Happy St. Patty's Day!

I'm just a little T-O'd

I came home today and started looking through the weekly ads for Publix, Albertsons, and Winn Dixie and figuring out what I needed based upon the sales and coupons that I had.  I realized that I would get most of my groceries from Albertsons this week, but, that Publix had some great deals on stuff that I needed.  I planned on doing my shopping this weekend, but, at about 8:00pm (on date night, nonetheless), I realized that the Publix sales that I wanted to take advantage of ended tonight.  So, I convinced JWP to go with me (once again I must note, it's date night...this is one of the reasons he is a keeper) to Publix to pick up a couple of things.  I wanted to get the following items: Birds Eye frozen veggies, Voskos yogurt, lavender Clorox bleach, Pompeian olive oil, Excedrin, Orbit gum, and Whiskas moist cat food.  I had a coupon for every single item.  Publix had Birds Eye frozen veggies 50% off - I had a Publix coupon for $1.00/2 and I had a manufacturer coupon for $1.00/3, so I got 3 bags and each bag ended up being $1.19 after the 50% off, for a total of $3.60.  The two coupons were then applied, so the 3 bags ended up costing me $1.60 total.  Publix had Voskos yogurt 10/$10, so they were $1.00 a piece.  I purchased 1 and I had a coupon for $1.00/1, so I got it for free.  Publix had Clorox Bleach 3/$5, so they were $1.67 a piece.  I purchased 1 and I had a coupon for $.25/1. So, it was about $1.42, which was about $.08 cheaper than the Publix brand and it was lavender scented!  The Pompeian olive oil was B1G1 free.  They were $5.99 each and I had two $1.00 coupons, so I was suppose to pay $3.99 for both (more on that later).  The Excedrin 100-count was on sale for $5.99 and I had a Target coupon for $3.00/1.  I ended up paying $2.99 for the Excedrin. The Orbit gum was $1.19 and I had a coupon for $.75/1.  Finally, Whiskas moist cat food was $5.00/10, so they were $.50 each.  I had a coupon for B1G1 free, so I got two for $.50.  While I was there, I noticed Crest pro health toothpaste (large tube) was on sale for $3.49, I had a coupon for $1.00/1, so I picked one up.  Finally, JWP and I were craving something sweet so I picked up at container of Stonyfield organic vanilla ice cream - it was $3.99 and I had a $.50 coupon.  We checked out and the total after my coupons and in-store savings was $22.46.  I had saved $22.17. The total was a little higher than I expected, but I knew I had picked up a few extra things, so, I tried not to think too much about it.  But, I shouldn't have doubted my gut feeling that the total wasn't right...beause, when I got home and checked my receipt, I realized that the olive oil did not ring up B1G1, so I paid for both bottles (at $5.99 a piece) and only got a $1.00 off of each. UGH!!!!!! It's been over an hour since I realized this and I'm still mad...I am beating the crap out of my keyboard right now typing this.  I know all I have to do tomorrow is go to Publix and get a refund of $5.99, plus tax, but, it still frustrates me SO bad.  I'm so mad at myself for not paying attention at the check out!!! Oh well, when it is all said and done, I would have paid about $16.00 for this:

and that's not too shabby!

Use #10001 for a Sharpie.

I am extremely hard on my shoes, it's probably becase I walk like I'm an 800 pound person (or, so I've been told by my mom).  This is obviously why I have to buy shoes so often (duh)... ha ha ha, nice try, huh??? Well, given my propensity to get my heel stuck in sidewalk/driveway crevices on a weekly basis, I've realized that a good ol' sharpie marker keeps my heels looking a lil' newer, a lil' longer. I simply color in the scuffed part with a sharpie and I am good to go.  Love you, sharpie!

I had to do this after getting my heel stuck in a crevice in my driveway this morning - it was so bad that I actually had to pry the heel of my cute, black, bow-tie shoe out of said crevice, leaving the heel in pretty bad shape.  Black sharpie to the rescue!

P.S. Apparently use #10002 is out there as well:

Yep, that's right a Lamborghini Gallardo done in sharpie markers (courtesy of http://graffart.eu/blog/2010/11/lamborghini-gallardo-done-in-sharpie-markers).

Can you say N-E-U-R-O-T-I-C?

FYI: I just had to review/edit all of my posts to make sure that the text/paragraphs were "justified." If you don't know what that means, GOOD, and I envy you.

Fashion Insecurity.

So, ever since I started my new job,  I've had a serious case of fashion insecurity, or, basically, feeling insecure about the "trendy" way that I dress.   At my first job, there were girls my age and we all dressed similar.  At my second job, I was the only female attorney for the longest time, so, there wasn't really anyone else to compare myself to.  At my current job, I am the youngest female attorney.  Now, I'm not saying that the other women at my office do not dress well, I'm simply saying that I dress different.   This office is not one where you have to wear a suit everyday (thank the lord), but you are expected to dress in a professional manner (obvs!).  My outfits basically consist of black pants or khaki pants, cute top, cardigan, shift dresses, and skirts, the majority of which I purchased from Ann Taylor Loft.  Typically, I throw in some trendy jewelry and/or shoes, and I am out the door.  But, case in point, today I am wearing these:

These are super cute shoes that I got from Shoe Dazzle (Kim K's shoe society).  They have a higher heel and the gold studs are amazing!  I am wearing them with a cream colored shift dress and I think the outfit is perfect for work and for the awards dinner I have to go to tonight....BUT, I feel so uncomfortable! I feel like all eyes are on me and my shoes.  I've tried to feel some of the staff ladies out about their thoughts on my dress and they all tell me how much they love it and that a prior attorney who use to work here and who was my age also dressed "trendy." So, I guess I should just let it go? But, I can't. So, once again I'm at work, shoes shoved under a desk, and trying to make the least amount of out-of-office trips possible.  Boo!

Blow the whistle - it's official.

Lookie at what I got in the mail today:

So excited!!  Shout out to Grandmas Little Lilly for making these adorable coupon organizers.  Check out her stuff at http://www.grandmaslittlelilly.etsy.com/.

I've already put the labels on the tabs (in alphabetical order, of course) and organized my coupons. WOO HOO - bring on the grocery shopping!

P.S. It really is the small things, huh?

Summer, summer, summer time.

After this beautiful weekend, I can safely say summer is upon us (sorry to all of my non- Florida peeps tuning in) and that means my weekend attire will mostly be made up of dresses.  I am lovin' these from Forever 21 - cute and cheap, can't beat that!

P.S. The black, one shoulder dress is not so much weekend attire for me in lil' ol' B-town - but, it is cute for South Beach, baby! (wink, wink).

and then there were 5.

I am not a cook. I have NO problem admitting that.  Prior to yesterday there were 4 meals that I had "mastered" (i.e. could make with less than a 5% percent of screwing up). They were:

1. Shepard's pie.
2. Cornflake crusted baked chicken.
3. Blue cheese burgers.
4. Fish tacos.

But now......drum roll, please........ I have a #5:

RIBS!!!!!

I am not one to toot my own horn, but damn my ribs were good!!! Like I said yesterday, I created a dry rub out of seasonings that I had and then smothered the ribs in bbq sauce.  I baked at 250 for an hour; flipped the ribs, reapplied bbq sauce, and baked for another hour; then flipped the ribs, reapplied bbq sauce, and then baked at 400 for 30 mins.

I may have even impressed JWP because he was like "you can cook." Now, now, now, don't get crazy, I don't think that mastering 5 meals really means you can cook....but, you gotta start somewhere, I guess!

Umm, yes, I had to capture this proud moment :)

17 dolla, holla!

So, earlier this week I looked through Winn Dixie's weekly ad and realized that I had some coupons that would make some great deals even better.  Winn Dixie had the Fab detergent B1G1, Lysol toilet bowl cleaner B1G1, and Kraft barbeque sauce B1G1 - I had coupons for $1.00/2 for the Fab, $1.00/2 for the Lysol, and $.75/1 for the barbeque sauce.  Now, I didn't know if Winn Dixie would let me use my coupons for the Fab and the Lysol because technically I was not buying 2 of the items because I was getting 1 free - but, it did! YEAH YA!!! The secret deo was 2 for $4.00 and I had 2 coupons for $.50 off each one, so I got 2 for $3.00.  The Garnier Fructis shampoo/conditioner was 2 for $5.00 and I had 2 coupons for $1.00 off each one, so I got 2 for $3.00.  The only item that I did not have a coupon for was the Crystal Light - but, Winn Dixie had them B1G1 and we've been drinking a lot of CL lately (in hindsight I'm kind of mad at myself for buying them without a coupon).  But, I spent $17 total and saved $22 - pretty cool to save more then you spend.

FYI: I needed the bbq sauce because I am making pork ribs tonight for dinner.  Last week Albertson's had buy 1 pack of ribs and get 2 free.  I've never made ribs before but, I essentially made my own dry rub for the ribs and then smothered them in bbq sauce .... I'll let you guys know how they turned out.

I Heart Home Goods.

Home Goods is AmAzInG! I only go every couple of months because the closest one is in Sarasota, so, it's a bit of a hike - but, like most stores I go into I am sure to find somethin' that I need or want! I ventured on down to HG last Saturday and picked up a few  lot of things.... but, by Sunday I was having some SERIOUS buyer's remorse, and, by Monday I had returned quite a few items (insert sad face here). However, these lovelies made the cut and have found their forever home with moi:

1. Rabbit platter - Easter goodness.

2. Hurricane vase (I don't know if technically that's what it's called) - perfect for year round/all season decorating! I'm envisioning it being full of pastel colored eggs for Easter.

3. Ribbon bowl - once again, perfect for year round/all season decorating! Yellow, pink, purple print ribbon for Easter? Yes, please.

SoBe 2011.

So, me and some fabulous ladies are heading to South Beach in September and even though its mooooonths away, it's all I can think about! Fruity drinks, time away with my girls, beach, tanned skin, good food, sexy dresses, and a hoppin' nightlife is what I'm lookin' forward to! Naturally, I've started to look for SoBe clothes, accessories, shoes, and things of that nature. I found these cute things for day time walking around while window monitor shopping at Old Navy today:

lovers them mucho.

Friday Love.

I am feelin' the love today for some handcrafted goodies that I've come across on the blogs that I follow...check 'em out....

1. Cute headboard from Idea Room: http://www.theidearoom.net/

2. Wreath from Paper Issues: http://paperissues.blogspot.com/

3. Moss covered initial from Two Twenty One: http://twotwenty-one.blogspot.com/

4. Stone wreath from Craft eNVy: http://nv-craftenvy.blogspot.com/

I think I will be taking advantage of some fantastic Michael's coupons that I have and force myself to take a trip to the Dollar Tree (ha ha ha-just kiddin', you know I love me some DT....I get it from my grandma) to pick up the necessary supplies to make the 2 wreaths and the initial. Granted, it will probably take me months to make them ... but, it's all relative.

T.G.I.F.

WOO HOO, I am stoked that it is Friday and the weekend is upon us! Although, I'm pretty sure I will be asleep by, umm, let's get crazy and say 9 tonight. Why you may be wondering?
